Our Chesapeake Bay Chapter (CBC) is one of 57 across the U.S. & Canada affiliated with the international Antique & Classic Boat Society, Inc. Since we all share an affinity and appreciation for “classic boating”, restoration and maritime history, we enjoy the opportunity to expand our circle of friends as we attend other chapters’ events around the country.
The Philadelphia chapter is in closest proximity to CBC, so our members frequently participate in its annual events—like the Tuckerton, NJ show in September and the Long Level Lake excursion in October. Each year different chapters are selected to host ACBS International’s quarterly and annual board meetings. We’re proud to have been selected as the site of this year’s Summer Quarterly Meeting, which will coincide with our Annual Boat Festival in St. Michael’s on June 19-21.
Last fall ACBS International launched a Chapter Liaison program to promote inter-chapter activities. Jim Shotwell—ACBS International Board Member & CBC’s Past-President—has been named liaison for several regional chapters, including Philadelphia (PA), Lake Hopatcong (NW NJ), Barnegat Bay (SE NJ) and Tidewater (VA).
